Animaniacs was, in a way, the very reason Fox Kids, and The WB came into existence. It was commissioned as a show for young children as an educational program, but it's known for appealing to adults and getting away with a lot of adult humor.
The program originally aired on Fox Kids from 1993 to 1995. The program was successful enough that Warner Bros Animation wanted to continue it beyond the typical 65 episode length. The program moved to Kids WB in 1995 where it aired its remaining episodes. By this point, the show was gained significant adult viewers but had a lack of young viewers, leading to shorter seasons and its eventual cancellation in 1998.
